Welcome to the Melbourne FMT Clinic

For well over 20 years the practice of Faecal Microbiota Transplant (FMT) has been shown to have significant benefit to patients suffering from certain chronic gut-related illnesses. Particularly effective in the treatment of Clostridium difficile (C. diff), the therapy is now being investigated for a wider range of conditions, and exciting progress is being made every day.

Melbourne FMT has provided this treatment since 2013. Specialising in clinically proven donor screening methods and advanced implantation techniques, Melbourne FMT offers the most reliable and effective treatment option for our patients.

Faecal Microbiota Transplant is the procedure of transferring a processed microbiome donation from a healthy person into the large or small intestine of a patient.

The Procedure

Our FMT procedure begins with an in depth consultation - an initial meeting during which you will be assessed for suitability of the treatment.

Donor Selection

Selected donors must have a regular healthy bowel habit and avoid foods at risk of contamination and commence the high fibre diet to maintain and enrich their gut bacteria.

Our nurse teaches you how to administer the FMT via enema safely and easily. You can pick up your FMT from the clinic and take it home to administer it, or organise to have it home delivered for an additional cost […] Read more
